school integrated information system
We are working with schools in Nepal to support their data collection and monitoring of student and school information. SiiS is being tested out by two schools in collaboration with Nepali ecudation associates.
School Integrated Information System V 3.0
Four years ago we put the Student records into a Database, this mirrors the data needs required by Nepal Education Department, covering caste, parents, siblings and much more .
Three years ago we added Hostel information and charges to this database. Before this hostel records were held in a ledger, now monthly charges are automatically generated and invoices printed with two clicks of a button.
Two years ago we added school fees to the existing database, charges for stationary, exam fees, school trips and absence charges are included.
Last year we added Terminal Test, end of term and end of year exams to you) facilities to the database. This was the most complex process so far. Subjects, test structures, mark schemes, grading all vary between schools and then students need to be assessed against DoE criteria.
V 3.0 will be trialed in two schools this year.

At the Shree Malamchi Ghyang Secondary School I joined the team of staff, teaching 280 children, of which 180 were borders. We worked together to develop areas of school life relating to computing and IT. Some details of the achievements can be found at: http://melamchighyang.edu.np
We also moved the school accounts from a ledger to a spreadsheet summary as part of the ongoing project to convert paper-based records to electronic files.
The image below uses test data but is an actual screen shot. To enter live data would have required me to enter some 400 exam results, live is too short.
