Yolmo Connect is collaborating with UK-based charity Nepalese Children's Trust and Belgian-based charity Ketaketi, to support Melamchi ghyang School in the Yolmo Valley, Nepal. Established 30 years ago, the school was devastated in the earthquake of 2015 when all the buildings collapsed. However, within six weeks the school was running classes again and has continued to provide teaching from temporary buildings. Education is of great importance to enable the people of the Yolmo valley to get back on their feet and improve the lives of future generations. Yolmo Connect focus particularly on the use of computers and IT within the school curriculum: delivering laptops and software, teaching students and training teachers to teach IT and use computers to support administration in the school. This work is being extended to other schools in the district.
aimsIn the longer term the charity will continue toThe charity works to ensure that essential computer and IT skills are offered to the children and schools in the Yolmo Valley, including training teachers - whilst working on a broader education and development agenda with the other partner charities.
