Nepal lies between India and Tibet. Nepal is 500 miles east to west and 110 miles north to south.
Melamchi Ghyang is nearly 60 miles to the north east of Kathmandu, 2,500 metres up in the hills within the Langtang National Park. The area is known as the Snow Enclosure, and the caste is Yolmo. It is a five-day trek by foot from Kathmandu to Melamchi Ghyang for those who cannot pay for the (relatively) hugely expensive taxi (four-wheel drive vehicle). Alternatively a 'bus' takes 10-12 hours to drive to the nearest town and then a walk of four hours to the village. |
